What Does The Bible Say About Watching Bad Things

What Does The Bible Say About Watching Bad Things

The things that we are doing today have some effects on our eternal destiny and we will be rewarded for what we are doing and watching with the organs that we have. The Lord is just and he will bring all our good and evil works before us on the day of judgment.

The Bible teaches us to be careful about our future because our life does not end here. So we should live wisely according to what God desires us to do.

The judgment is true that is waiting ahead of us and now we must use our body, mind, and soul for God’s sake. If we deny to live for God and decide to fulfill our fleshly desires we will have to pay the cost for it.

We may say watching bad things do not make us a sinner because I’m not doing any bad work but we need to know that God hates and keeps this in his record too. He has called us to be holy both inwardly and outwardly. Watching bad things makes us unholy and it inspires us to commit sin. So we are to give watching bad things as it harms our spiritual life.

Let us see what the word of God says about watching bad things.

Ecclesiastes 11: 9  “Rejoice, O young man, in thy youth; and let thy heart cheer thee in the days of thy youth, and walk in the ways of thine heart, and in the sight of thine eyes: but know thou, that for all these things God will bring thee into judgment.”

We have the freedom to live on this earth but we should also remember that God will judge us according to what we are doing to satisfy our flesh. Our eyes and flesh can seek many things for their satisfaction but it will not save us from the wrath of God.

1 John 2:15-17 “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth for ever.”

We are here on this earth with a purpose where we are asked to obey the Lord and live according to what he wants. This is our duty and we shall rejoice if we maintain a distance from the desires of this world. We are commanded not to make friendship with the world as it separates us from the heavenly Father.

Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.”

The Bible never encourages us to watch bad things but it strictly admonishes its readers to stay busy with all the good things. Our eyes and attention should be maintaining holiness as the Lord himself is holy.

2 Timothy 2:16 “But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.”

Romans 13:14 “But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.”

Jesus makes us live a new life where we put him on and walk according to the plan of God. This keeps us to stay far from all kinds of fleshly desires that harm us.

Romans 13:13 “Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.”

Romans 12:2 “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”

James 4:17 “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.”

James 1:27 “Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.”

In Jesus, we can see ourselves unworthy to stand before the Lord and by obeying him we cleanse our dirt from us. Thus we make us unspotted from the world.

Mark 7:20-23 “And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.”

1 John 2:16 “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.”

Matthew 5:28 “But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.”

1 Corinthians 6:18-20 “Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”

1 Corinthians 6:13 “Meats for the belly, and the belly for meats: but God shall destroy both it and them. Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.”

Galatians 5:19-21 “Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.”

Matthew 5:27-28 “Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not commit adultery: But I say unto you, That whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart.”

Ephesians 5:3 “But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints;”

Ephesians 5:11-12 “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them. For it is a shame even to speak of those things which are done of them in secret.”

Matthew 6:22-23 “The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light. But if thine eye be evil, thy whole body shall be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in thee be darkness, how great is that darkness!”

1 Thessalonians 5:22 “Abstain from all appearance of evil.”

Psalm 101:3 “I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.”

Galatians 5:16 “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.”

Revelation 21:8 “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.”

Ephesians 4:22-24 “That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.”

Romans 13:13 “Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.”

Mark 7:21-23 “For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders, Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.”

Proverbs 6:32 “But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding: he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.”

Romans 6:12 “Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.”

Titus 2:11-12 “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;”

Galatians 5:1 “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.”

1 Thessalonians 4:3-5 “For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God.”

Ephesians 5:5 “For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.”

Matthew 5:8 “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God.”

1 Peter 2:11 “Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;”

It is clear to all of us that God has given us a conscience where we are asked to live by his plan. He made us by his own image not to watch bad things but to watch the things that bring glory for his kingdom. We must give our strength, time, and labor where God will be glorified.

But watching bad things and keeping ourselves busy with the things of the world cause us to experience God’s anger in our lives. We should use our eyes for good work.

Job 31:1 “I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid?”

Psalm 119:37 “Turn away mine eyes from beholding vanity; and quicken thou me in thy way.”

James 1:14-15 “But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.”

Matthew 6:22 “The light of the body is the eye: if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole body shall be full of light.”

Psalm 101:3 “I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside; it shall not cleave to me.”

We should not watch any evil things as we are the children of the holy God who is our loving father. Watching evil things makes us unrighteous and ultimately destroys us from God’s plan of salvation.

Proverbs 20:12 “The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the Lord hath made even both of them.”

The Bible says God has created our eyes and ears so we are to use them for his sake.

Proverbs 15:3 “The eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.”

God’s eyes are everywhere and he is always watching us. If we see any things that do not bring glory to God then we are to receive his anger.

Conclusion

We should view the world according to the way God looks. We must know the truth that we find in Jesus alone. Our intention should be pleasing God by removing our fleshly desires from us and welcoming the word of God.

God wants us not to watch any things that can encourage us to perform any evil. We do what we see. So our eyes must be used wisely in order to keep us free from sin.

Though we are free in Jesus yet the nature of sin exists in us which can mislead us any moment when it gets an opportunity from us.  All the evil things should be far from us for our own benefit. Because God will bless us when we walk in his words.
