What Does The Bible Say About Quitting

The Bible Say About Quitting

Jesus has bought us by his precious blood.  Now we have the courage to stand before the mighty God who has set us free from all our weaknesses (Galatians 3:13-15). We should live a victorious life where God himself will lead us and we are to submit our desires before him.

There is nothing in this world that can hinder us to walk in God’s righteousness. Though we walk according to the will of God yet we have the sinful nature in us that makes us violate God’s righteousness. We may sometimes feel nervous and timid as the devil is always trying us to pull back and separate us from the Lord.

In our troubles and temptations, we are to run to the Lord as he is our stronghold and we shall be saved under his mighty wings. We can boldly approach him and he will protect us to lead in the way of life that gives us eternal destiny in his glorious kingdom.

What Does God Say About Quitting

We should build ourselves in such a way that we shall stand firm in times of hardships and persecution. It is our duty to be rooted ourselves with Jesus so that we can be spiritually strong. This world can destroy our earthly body but they have no dominion over our soul which is life itself.

We must pay heed to how we live as it going to affect us in the day of judgment.

The scriptures guide us to do good works continuously as God will reward us (Galatians 6:9). If we seek to get fame and honor from the people of this world then surely we will give up doing great works.

Jesus says at the time of judgment he will separate us his sheep from the goats so we need to live a life that the Lord asks us to live. In our lives, we will definitely come across many unpleasant events where we may not know how to overcome them. But the Bible has answered it in others’ life where they also appeared before such circumstances what made them puzzled.

In times of extreme suffering, we may not understand why such a thing is happening but we need to wait upon the Lord and he will strengthen us to move ahead. He will restore us and give us the wisdom and strength to fly high like an eagle (Isaiah 40:31).

The life of Job gives us an example to wait upon the Lord even when we find no ways to get rid of the painful situation. Jesus promised us he will never leave us and till the end of this age, he will be with us (Matthew 28:20).

The sufferings and pain that usually come in our lives actually make us much stronger and help us to know the healing and delivering power of God.

What Does God Say When You Feel Like Giving Up

Being true followers of Jesus Christ we need to focus on him in every step of our lives. It is our primary duty to look at him even when we see no hope in our lives. The problems that we usually see in our lives are nothing if we see through the eyes of the Lord.

The sufferings, trials, hardships that we often notice in our lives are the cause of sin that we are bearing in us. But we have a hope to overcome our lives in times of difficulties when we find no way.

The hope that we have in Christ Jesus is exactly our mental strength to neglect the unpleasant incidents that take place in our mortal life. Jesus gave a nice example through his life while he was sent on this earth to fulfill a mission which was to redeem entire mankind from sin.

He was faithful till his death on the cross. He knew long ago that he had to go through severe pain and suffering to accomplish his mission. He did it even though he could have changed his mind prior to his sufferings. He welcomed his death by accepting all kinds of humilities.

We are also on a mission where we should live a righteous life until our death. We may come across many unprecedented events but looking at Jesus we need to be patient to endure the pain during the times of suffering.

Thus Bible encourages us to have patience, long-suffering, and love in our hearts which will direct us to humble ourselves and we will be able to reach our destination.

What Does God  Say In The Bible About Quitting A Job

Our life is a free gift from God and when we understand it and surrender our wills at the feet of Jesus and began to walk according to his own plan we experience something new in our lives.

There will be no peace and happiness as long as we desire to lead our own lives by working in different workplaces. We may earn a lot but very soon we will realize that it has no value for us.

Sometimes we go through a state of mind where we try to quit our job but looking at the needs of our family we keep on doing though we are not satisfied with the job. Let us look at what the scripture tells us about quitting a job.

We Should Quit Job When It Does Not Fulfill God’s Purpose

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28)

God’s eyes are always upon his people and he leads them through the green pasture. He knows what to give and what to remove from his dearest people. So, we can understand that God is in control of what we do and where we work.

Sometimes we may not get the answer to whether we should leave our job or not but if we ask Jesus in our prayer then he will guide us by his Holy Spirit.

We Should Serve God Alone Through Our Job

No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.”    (Matthew 6:24)

If we feel that our job can lead us to love money instead of God then we should kneel down before the Lord in prayer to ask for the way that we must follow. We cannot serve both God and wealth at the same time.

Our main intention is not to earn wealth but to seek righteousness by doing work that will help us to run our family.

We Can Quit Our Jobs If It Separates Us From God

Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.”   (Hebrews 13:5)

God has given us a developed brain where we are able to take the right decision for our spiritual life. If we work for flesh then we will actually gain nothing but we must work for our spirit and it will give us the fruit that we will enjoy forever.

So any work that seems to separate us from God must be quit. Doing such sacrifices for God, we will obviously get to know the Lord more closely and receive the reward for being faithful in his words.

We Can Quit If We Find No Peace And Joy

And the soldiers likewise demanded of him, saying, And what shall we do? And he said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely; and be content with your wages.” (Luke 3:14)

We must be content that we earn. Paul has taught us to learn how to be happy in times of suffering and poverty. So we should have that attitude to be satisfied in our works.

If our work involves us in doing works that God hates then we need to quit such a Job. As our works will be counted before the Lord and he will judge us by our works.

Flee From Temptation

Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.”   (2 Timothy 2:22)

If we get to know that our works make us unrighteous then we should run from that job. Because temptation can come from every corner and we need to be wise enough to encounter them.

When we feel that temptations are especially coming from our workplace then we must quit such jobs to keep ourselves free from sin.

Jesus says if our one hand leads us to commit sin then we must cut it off rather than bring our entire body in hell. Similarly, we should leave the job without hesitating otherwise we have to put ourselves in danger.

Bible Characters Who Wanted To Quit

There are some people in the Bible who thought to quit their hope. They did not understand God’s power so they decided to rely on their own knowledge. But later on, they perceived their mistakes and experienced God’s mighty presence in their lives. Lets us know them so we may extend our faith in the Lord.

Moses

Moses once rejected the proposal of God while he was on the mountain and God appeared before him. The Lord had chosen him to deliver his people from Egyptian bondage.

He quit the proposal but later on he accepted God’s plan that he made for his people and later on we know that he was a successful leader in the nation of Israel.

Jonah

When the Lord called Jonah to speak through his mouth to the people of Nineveh, he rejected God and tried to hide from the Lord. As a result of his refusal, he experienced God’s mighty hand that troubled him while he was on a ship. And the storm made the ship almost sink and finally he was thrown from it and saved by a huge fish.

The Disciples Of Jesus

The disciple of Jesus also wanted to quit their faith in Jesus. But they came back again to their faith when they saw resurrected Jesus and understood their mistakes and left their occupations to serve Jesus till their death.
