Jesus speaks so much about heaven as he dwelt there while he was on earth (John 3:13). He also tells us that only he can give us the exact description of heaven. We should learn what Jesus tells about heaven as it is real and the Lord created this for his people who will obey him and live a holy life on this earth.
There is so much information we can find in the words of Jesus. All of his words help us to know what lies ahead as we have the hope to be there after our resurrection.
Long ago, Jesus came to earth it was prophesied through the prophet Isaiah that one day this earth will be removed and new heaven will be established where the righteous will dwell forever with the Lord.
“For, behold, I create new heavens and a new earth: and the former shall not be remembered, nor come into mind.” (Isaiah 65:17)
What Did Jesus Say About The Kingdom Of God
Jesus started his ministry by preaching about the kingdom of God is at hand. He did not say any other things but just proclaimed that God’s kingdom has come to man. It means he wanted to say that now it’s God’s grace that would be shown through him and his blood is needed for salvation for the entire mankind.
Matthew 4:17 “From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
Mark 1:15 “And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.”
When the Pharisees complained against Jesus as he cast out demons, they told him that he did such miracles with the power of Beelzebub, the ruler of the demons. But Jesus preached to them that its time for them to know the truth as God’s kingdom has come upon them.
They must repent and leave all their rituals and traditions as the new covenant would be established by the blood. All the miracles that Jesus made were done by the mighty hand of God. These unbelievable works were done on the earth so everyone can realize the kingdom of God has come to them to deliver them from their sins.
Matthew 12:28 “But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.”
The Pharisees asked Jesus where is the kingdom of God as he continued to preach about this. They thought that kingdom of God is likely the kingdom of an earthly king. Their expectation was to see such a kingdom where a king will wear a crown and he will have the soldiers and all the things usually a king keeps for his kingdom’s sake.
But Jesus corrected them about what is really the kingdom of God. He says it is in our heart where we can turn our ways from sins and walk in God’s holiness thus we will observe the kingdom of God.
Luke 17:20-21 “And when he was demanded of the Pharisees when the kingdom of God should come, he answered them and said, The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you.”
What Does Jesus Say About The Kingdom Of Heaven
To make his disciples aware of what is the kingdom of heaven he has given them some examples where they were understood well. Once his disciples asked him who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven then Jesus called a little child among them and taught them to be like that innocent child to inherit the kingdom of heaven.
Our pride will not help us anything in God’s kingdom. Until we humble ourselves before the Lord and man, we are unable to stand before God’s sight. As children are innocent and they have no pride in their hearts and they never keep the records of others’ faults. such nature must be obtained in order to be in the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 18:1-5 “At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever, therefore, shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me.”
Jesus teaches us how to pray as we are his disciples. We need to pray and ask for God’s kingdom that should be possessed in our hearts. All our wealth and works that we do for our glory will not give us any profit until we allow God’s kingdom in our hearts. The kingdom of heaven makes us think differently and at last, we find what we should do to have the everlasting life in Jesus Christ who gave his life on the cross.
Matthew 6:10 “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.”
The judgment that will take place in human lives is prepared long ago before the creation of this world. Jesus depicted what will happen at the last ages when he will come again with the holy angels and all the nations will be gathered before him. He will separate his people just as a shepherd divides his sheep from goats.
He will appear as a king and there will be no more chance for anyone to repent. Jesus will call his sheep to enter in the kingdom of heaven that is for them which was in the mind of God long ago before the creation of this world.
Matthew 25:34 “Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world”
What Does Jesus Say About Entering Heaven
Once a young man came to Jesus and asked him how to possess eternal life. Jesus asked him to obey all the commandments that they were given to obey. He answered Jesus that he observe all of them and at that time Jesus told him to distribute all of his properties to the poor to inherit the kingdom of God and he was only this to complete the requirement.
But he was so sorry to give his wealth to others as he was a lover of wealth. Here Jesus says it is hard for rich people to enter into the kingdom of God due to their excessive passion and love over wealth. Jesus told that a camel can pass through a needle but it’s impossible for rich people to inherit everlasting life.
Matthew 19:24 “And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.”
Jesus told his disciples not to worry about food, clothe, and shelter. God will give to those who come before him with a pure and holy heart. These are not our primary goals to achieve these but our aim is to be in his kingdom and God will give us if we walk in him and obey all that he says.
Luke 12:32 “ Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.”
Jesus told Nicodemus the essential thing that we all should follow to be in heaven. Jesus says to be born again by water and spirit baptism which will make us qualify to enter in his kingdom.
John 3:3-5 “Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother’s womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.”
After receiving Jesus we must show our light to the world which will make others think about our loving father who is in heaven. All our works reflect who gives us spiritual food and it leads us to glorify God who has the power to give us eternal life in heaven.
Matthew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
Jesus has instructed us not to do charitable deeds before men. If we do such works that exactly means we seek praise from men who see our works. But if we secretly give things to those who are needy then we will get the privilege to be in God’s kingdom.
Matthew 6:1 “Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.”
We need to pray continuously as long as we are here on this earth. We must seek God in our everyday life so we can understand him well and it will help us to receive the blessings from him.
Matthew 7:11 “If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?”
Many believe Jesus as God but very few walk in his teachings. Those who will obey Jesus and live a faithful life till the last breath will be worthy to enter God’s kingdom.
Matthew 7:21 “Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.”
If we admit God as our loving father before men then we will be possessed the kingdom of God. Our confession will lead God to accept us to allow in his kingdom.
Matthew 10:32 “Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.”
What Did Jesus Say About Marriage In Heaven
Often we ask whether marriages will be in heaven or not. But Jesus answered it while Sadducees who believed there’s no resurrection asked Jesus what about marriage after resurrection. Earlier Jesus told them that we will be resurrected from death.
Jesus answered that there will be no more marriage-like here. So, we need to know that in heaven we will reign forever and marriage will not be done there. Even there will be no more death and all will live like angels as we shall be given the glorified bodies and we shall live there happily forever.
Matthew 22:30 “For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.”
Luke 20:34-36 “And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry, and are given in marriage: But they which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry nor are given in marriage: Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.”
What Did Jesus Say Before He Ascended Into Heaven
After the resurrection, Jesus stayed for forty days here on this earth and he confirmed to his disciples that he is their Jesus. And before leaving this earth he asked his disciples to stay in Jerusalem until they receive the holy spirit which is the promise of the father (Joel2:28).
Acts 1:4 “And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.”
While His disciples asked him whether he will restore to Israel their kingdom or not, Jesus told them that it is in the hands of God. They should not ask about it. They must be empowered with the Holy Spirit which will come very soon upon them and they will preach the good news throughout the world.
Acts 1:6-8 “When they, therefore, were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.”
Jesus commissioned his disciples to preach the gospel to the entire world, and to baptize and to teach what they have learned from him. As he has received all the authority and he sent them to the world to witness him to bring the lost souls into God’s kingdom.
Matthew 28:16-20 “Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted. And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.”
What Did Jesus Say About Heaven And Hell
Jesus has already warned us through his words about what will be happening in heaven and hell. We will have no answer to give him or we cannot make any excuse to flee from his judgment. Let us watch what he has told about heaven and hell.
Jesus has said the heaven as follows
- There is a reward in heaven for the righteous (Matthew 5:12).
- We should store our wealth in heaven (Matthew 6:19-20).
- We must rejoice as we have rewards in heaven (Luke 6:23).
- There will be joy when one sinner repents for his sins (Luke 15:7).
This is how Jesus mentioned hell
- Eternal punishment for those who disobey him (Matthew 25:46).
- The eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels (Matthew 25:41).
- A place for weeping and gnashing of teeth (Matthew 13:50).
- A place where fire shall never be quenched (Mark 9:43).
- The worm does not die and the fire is not quenched (Mark 9:48).
What Did Jesus Say The Kingdom Of Heaven Is Like
Jesus used seven wonderful parables where he described the kingdom of heaven differently. His aim was to make interested listeners wise so they stick to his commandment to have a never-ending life.
- The Kingdom of Heaven is like a sower (Matthew 13:3-23).
- The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field (Matthew 13:24).
- The Kingdom of Heaven is like a mustard seed (Matthew 13:31-32).
- The kingdom of heaven is like a leaven (Matthew 13:33).
- The kingdom of heaven is like a treasure (Matthew 13:44).
- The kingdom of heaven is like a merchant seeking beautiful pearls (Matthew 13:45).
- The kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet that was cast into the sea and gathered of every kind (Matthew 13:47).
We must remember that heaven is a real place and we have to decide now whether we want to go there or not. If we fail to enter there then we have hell which is a place those who will not inherit the kingdom of God.
