Bible Verses About Taking Care Of The Poor And Widows

Our current efforts will have a significant impact on the day of judgment. We must be aware of this and work in accordance with it. The Lord will judge us based on our daily actions.

As God commands, we must take care of the destitute and widows. We can’t love God and ignore them. First and foremost, we must love and care for individuals who are in a state of pain.

While we care for the poor and widows, all of our prayers and praises will be acceptable to the Lord.

The following bible scriptures will show us why we should care about them and how we should approach them with love.

James 1:27(KJV) “Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.”

1 Timothy 5:3-4(KJV)  “Honour widows that are widows indeed. But if any widow have children or nephews, let them learn first to shew piety at home, and to requite their parents: for that is good and acceptable before God.”

Exodus 22:22-23(KJV)  “Ye shall not afflict any widow, or fatherless child. If thou afflict them in any wise, and they cry at all unto me, I will surely hear their cry;”

Psalm 91:4(KJV) He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.”

Jeremiah 49:11(KJV) “Leave thy fatherless children, I will preserve them alive; and let thy widows trust in me.”

Luke 14:12-14(KJV)  “Then said he also to him that bade him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not thy friends, nor thy brethren, neither thy kinsmen, nor thy rich neighbours; lest they also bid thee again, and a recompence be made thee. But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind: And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.”

Isaiah 1:17(KJV) “Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.”

Acts 6:1(KJV)  “And in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplied, there arose a murmuring of the Grecians against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily ministration.”

Deuteronomy 14:28-29(KJV)  “At the end of three years thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increase the same year, and shalt lay it up within thy gates: And the Levite, (because he hath no part nor inheritance with thee,) and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, which are within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that the Lord thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hand which thou doest.”

Deuteronomy 24:17-21(KJV)  “Thou shalt not pervert the judgment of the stranger, nor of the fatherless; nor take a widow’s raiment to pledge: But thou shalt remember that thou wast a bondman in Egypt, and the Lord thy God redeemed thee thence: therefore I command thee to do this thing. When thou cuttest down thine harvest in thy field, and hast forgot a sheaf in the field, thou shalt not go again to fetch it: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow: that the Lord thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hands. When thou beatest thine olive tree, thou shalt not go over the boughs again: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow.
