From Boaz who acted quickly when opportunity to redeem Ruth appeared, to Nehemiah who prayed instantly and then spoke boldly to the king, to Paul who declared “I must also see Rome” — the Bible is filled with men and women who recognized divine moments and moved decisively.

• Colossians 4:5 (KJV) — “Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.” To “redeem the time” means to buy up every opportunity — to see each moment as a resource to be invested, not squandered.
• Proverbs 27:1 (KJV) — “Boast not thyself of to morrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth.” Delay is the enemy of opportunity. What can be done today should not be deferred to a tomorrow that is not guaranteed.

4. Don’t let fear freeze you. Moses, Gideon, Jeremiah — all were afraid when God called. Fear is not a stop sign from God. It is often a sign you’re standing at the threshold of something significant.

A Prayer for Discernment and Boldness

Lord, give me eyes to see the opportunities You have placed before me. Keep me from missing divine moments because of fear, busyness, or hesitation. Help me to redeem the time — to act with the wisdom and boldness of those in Scripture who seized their moment. Show me what “for such a time as this” looks like in my own life. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
