Bible Verses from the KJV on the Power of Silence

Hey friends! Ever heard the saying, “Silence is golden”? Well, it turns out the Bible has a lot to say about the power of keeping quiet at the right times.

Today, we’re exploring some KJV verses that teach us about the wisdom of thinking before we speak. Sometimes, the best thing we can do is… nothing at all.

Power of Silence

Let’s dive in!

  1. Proverbs 10:19: “In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin: but he that refraineth his lips is wise.”Thoughts: This one’s pretty straightforward, right? The more we talk, the more chances we have to say something wrong. So, sometimes, it’s wiser to just zip it!
  2. Proverbs 17:28: “Even a fool, when he holdeth his peace, is counted wise: and he that shutteth his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.”Thoughts: I love this one – it’s like saying, even if you don’t know much, you can seem wise just by not talking too much. Less can definitely be more!
  3. James 1:19: “Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:”Thoughts: James is giving us a formula here: listen more, speak less, and don’t get angry quickly. Sounds like a recipe for peace, doesn’t it?
  4. Ecclesiastes 3:7: “A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;”Thoughts: Ecclesiastes is all about there being a right time for everything. This verse reminds us that there’s a perfect time to speak up and a time to just be quiet.

These verses really make you think, don’t they? It’s amazing how something as simple as not speaking can be so powerful. Next time you’re about to say something, maybe take a second to think: is this the time to speak, or the time to hold my peace?

Why not challenge ourselves this week? Before you speak, take a moment to think if it’s really the right time to say what’s on your mind. You might be surprised at how much wisdom there is in silence!

Here is A Great New Way to Read Your Bible!

A new Bible reading program has been released which approaches the Bible in a new and unique way than most people are used to. It offers the reader an opportunity to read all of the way through the Bible – to do it chronologically – and to do it in just a year! For people who have never done that, which includes the vast majority of people, it offers them a chance to stand out in their peer groups, and to satisfy their deep desire to please the God they serve.

It is a known fact that:

Less than 10% of all Christians have ever read the Bible all of the way through. Many have never even considered doing it, or thought it was not attainable for them.

This is a refreshing approach to the Bible. It may become the standard for this way of approaching the Bible.
