The tongue is the small but most powerful organ that we have in our body. The words that we usually speak daily have a tremendous effect as the Lord will judge us by them. We will have no escape from God’s wrath due to the unnecessary words that we do speak.
Our mouth does praise God and at the same time it curses others so, we must pay heed to it otherwise we will be moving towards death silently. God listens when we glorify him through our mouths and he also sees and hears what we say with our mouths.
Instead of using our tongues for achieving God’s wrath let us use them wisely to flee from the upcoming judgment. Our words have the power to heal somebody and they can also destroy someone if we discourage him with our negative words.
Let us have a look at the bible verses below that will make you understand that it is better to keep your mouth shut to avoid punishment from the Lord.
Psalm 34:13 “Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile.”
Psalm 141:3 “Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.”

James 3:5-12 “Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell. For every kind of beasts, and of birds, and of serpents, and of things in the sea, is tamed, and hath been tamed of mankind: But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be. Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter? Can the fig tree, my brethren, bear olive berries? either a vine, figs? so can no fountain both yield salt water and fresh.”
Proverbs 15:1-2 “A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger. The tongue of the wise useth knowledge aright: but the mouth of fools poureth out foolishness.”
