Bible Verses About Struggle And Perseverance

Jesus says to follow the truth and it has the power to set us free. In this world, we all are living in bondage where Satan is controlling us by his destructive will. We need to come before the Lord to be free from the impact of Satan’s plan.

Jesus has established hope for each of us and he also suffered for our sake. We must understand well the reason for his sufferings and the pain that he experienced.

Jesus sacrificed himself to help us in our struggle so we can persevere in our hope. We are to welcome all kinds of obstacles in our life but we should also encounter them with the word of God.

In the times of trials, we give our test whether we will be with the Lord or quit him by fearing the trouble. The scriptures below will help us to persevere in times of trials and temptations.

God’s Power Manifests In Our Weaknesses

We might go through struggles and hard times in our earthly life but we need to remember that our God is with us. He fights on behalf of us. If we please him and glorify his name by our works which will inspire him to help us in our struggle.

Our focus should be obeying the scripture as it makes the Lord happy. When we decide to give our will to him and live a godly life then we find God’s strength in our weakness. The Lord says his grace is enough for us and if we believe it then we will surely be able to overcome all our troubles and temptations.

2 Corinthians 12:9-10 “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.”

Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”

Exodus 14:14 “The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.”

Psalm 23 “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.”

1 Corinthians 10:13 “There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.”

Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

1 John 4:4 “Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.”

2 Corinthians 4:8 “We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;”

1 Peter 5:10 “But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.”

1 John 5:4 “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.”

1 Timothy 6:12 “Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.”

Enduring Temptation Makes Us To Own The Crown Of Life

The children of God must have the mindset of enduring temptations. If we easily give up our faith and live a life of disobedience then we will lose the reward that we are running for to achieve.

All the great people of the Old Testament such as Abraham, Moses, Joseph, and Job went through temptations but they were steadfast in their faith and they were successful too. The life of Jesus also encourages us to be patient in times of temptation as it takes us towards our final destination where we will achieve the crown of life.

James 1:12 “Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.”

Galatians 6:9 “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

Hebrews 12:1 “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,”

James 1:2-4 “My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;  Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing.”

1 Chronicles 16:11 “Seek the Lord and his strength, seek his face continually.”

Hebrews 10:36 “For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.”

2 Thessalonians 3:13 “But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.”

Ephesians 6:18 “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;”

2 Timothy 2:12 “If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us”

Romans 12:12 “Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;”

Patience And Faith Are Required To Overcome This World

Sometimes we do not get our prayer’s answer all of a sudden.  Yet we need to seek God’s guidance and support constantly. As the Lord hears our prayer. Every time we pray we must have the faith that God is listening to our prayers. This faith is needed to understand God more intimately.

Apart from this faith, we need to develop our hearts by increasing our patience so we can rely on God in times of uncertainty.

Matthew 24:13 “But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.”

Romans 5:3-5 “And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also: knowing that tribulation worketh patience; And patience, experience; and experience, hope: And hope maketh not ashamed; because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.”

Romans 2:7 “To them who by patient continuance in well-doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life”

Revelation 3:10 “Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.”
